Hunting For Facebook Privacy

When you are on the internet there is no such thing as privacy. But, Facebook can provide some opportunities to your online, but it all depends on how you use the settings. For a lot of people they post every little detail about themselves on Facebook, but you need to be careful on what exactly you are going to share by setting restrictions on your privacy setting in Facebook. With the privacy setting you can have control on what you want people to see, what you share, photos you are in, and the list goes on and on.
During our Social Media Marketing Class I learned that my personal Facebook was not that private. My settings were set to allow everyone to see what I was doing, I realized that I don't want or need people who I don't know, to see what I was posting or looking through my photos. I have changed my setting so that only people that I am friends with can see my profile. I also learned that you need to be careful of what you post. For example don't post when you are going to be out of town or even out of your house for a few minutes. This is because this information can allow unscrupulous people who see that post to know that you are out of your home and steal from you.
I didn't realized how many privacy setting options that Facebook has. I can make sure that only I can see a photo album that I posted. I realized that I had my phone number up on Facebook and I only want certain people to have my number, so I took that off. I even deleted people that I never met in my life as my Facebook friends and only kept the people that I know. After that class I learned that it is very important to have your profile set to private.
